The Mystic Winery was founded in 2008, a boutique winery integrating humanities, art, and ecology.
Qiushan is named after QiuChuji, the senior member of The Quanzhen Seven, who collectively developed an influential school of thought within Taoism in the 14th century while living and meditating in the area.
Each year from the 18th to the 20th of the first lunar month, a folk prayer service is held at the Qiu temple in Qiushan valley. This tradition has been followed for hundreds of years.
Penglai, also known as “Penglai Island Paradise”, originated from the legend of the “Three Magic Mountains” in the sea. It is a mystical place. In Chinese mythology, there are three magic mountains in the Bohai Sea: Penglai, Yingzhow and Fangzhang, where the immortals live. Since ancient times, the mountains have been the places where Emperor Qin Shihuang and Emperor WuDi of the HanDynasty sought the immortals and visited to seek out medicine. The legend of “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea” also originated here.
Due to the love for the mystical history of Penglai, the founder named the winery as Mystic Winery.
Top: Designed as a mountain with a labyrinth, like an M, it is inspired by the winery’s name “Mystic Island”;
Bottom: The lines at the bottom, as a representation of the vineyard, places the mountain above it. The lines can similarly be interpreted as a body of water, as inspired by the landform of the vineyard.
The overall design integrates the landform features of the winery and the characteristics of the vineyard and has the unique artistic conception of the Chinese landscape.

With the graphic on the label, some see a bird, and some see a masquerade mask and they are both correct. The masquerade mask signifies mystery; the story behind the bird is that we noticed the magpie, a beautiful special of bird, on our land; while we were building our winery and villa, they watched over us and even nested at a few spots of our winery. They are like our family and our guardian birds.
Thus, we decided to combine the mask and the bird to form our “Mystic Bird” that we believe will protect us and bring warmth and love our way.
