Looking back on the past year, Xiandao Winery is still on the road of struggle

Snowflakes flutter down gracefully, painting Penglai as an ink wash with profound artistic conception, marking the conclusion of the year 2023. It is said that a snowy year promises a bountiful harvest, and we believe that the grapevines buried beneath the snow at this moment will exhibit even better performance in the upcoming year.

KEY WORDS of 2023

In May 2023, Mystic Island Winery participated in China Wine Summit (CWS), standing out from numerous competing wines and winning the “Grand Gold Award.”

Mystic Island Winery has been awarded the “Star Winery” title for two consecutive years.

YIHU Petit Verdot Reserve Dry Red Wine 2021

 

Deep purple-red color. Fresh aromas of ink, roasted chestnuts, violets, and black pepper with a juicy palate. The aftertaste is penetrating, harmonious, and lingering. Mystic Island Winery is one of the two best wineries in China for making Petit Verdot, and it is truly a world-class wine in terms of using 100% Petit Verdot to make this single-variety wine. In September 2023, bettane+desseauve’s tasting team completed the evaluation and scoring of Chinese premium wines, embarking on an exploration of Chinese wines. This team of nearly 10 tasters tastes over fifty thousand wines annually, selected only five percent for inclusion in the yearbook.

1. YIHU Cabernet Franc Reserve Dry Red Wine 2021

Pleasant floral and crisp fruit fragrance, notes of lavender and menthol bring a “fluid” sensation to the body. On the palate, cool, slightly sweet tones, the tannins have a fragile lacy, artistic beauty. A remarkable minerality and beautiful crystalline acidity. A free and pure wine!

 

2. YIHU Petit Verdot Reserve Dry Red Wine 2021

Blueberries, white pepper, capsicum, dark chocolate, herbs and Pu’er tea blend in. A very noble flavour, with a bitter coffee and sweet aftertaste, yet freshness. Good acidity and ageing potential.

 

3. YIHU Chardonnay Dry White Wine 2021

Apple, bitter almond, honeysuckle, medium freshness, balanced. Round and mineral, with a medium-sweet finish.

 

4. YIHU Chardonnay Reserve Dry White Wine 2021

Rich citrus, stone fruit and white flower aromas, with complex and layered aromas. Salinity adds elegance and nobility. A delicious Chardonnay with a crystalline palate and a light buttery aftertaste. 

Most Popular Chinese Terroir Wine Among College Students

In November 2023, Mystic Island Winery participated in the first Grape and Wine Science and Culture Festival hosted by  Peking University, showcasing “Chinese terroir, Chinese taste, Chinese culture.”

 

In the evaluation by a hundred-student judging panel, YIHU Chardonnay Dry White Wine won the “Grand Gold Award,” gaining recognition from the younger generation.

 

Mystic Island Winery’s presence at this event fully displayed the terroir, culture and charm of Penglai through its wines.

 

Inclusion in JS 2023 TOP100 List

In December 2023, Mystic Island Winery was selected in the 2023 Top 100 Chinese Wine List released by James Suckling’s team (JS).

Very subtly creamy and completely chiselled on the nose with fine lees, wet stones and fresh lemon zest. Refined and textured on the palate with a medium body, lovely elegance and mineral fineness. Lots of freshness and finesse. I’d rate it even higher if there was a little more flavor concentration. Wild yeast fermented. 2100 bottles. Drink now.

 

Constant Stride, Shining in Hong Kong

In 2023, at the second-anniversary celebration of Chief Happiness Officer Appreciation Award 2023 ceremony organized by the Chief Happiness Officer Association of Hong Kong, Mystic Island Winery was listed among the Top 5 Happy Small and medium-sized enterprises in Hong Kong, becoming an exemplar of joyful corporate culture.

This year, Mystic Island Winery  also received recognition from BUSINESS INNOVATOR, a Hong Kong business information multimedia platform, winning the ” The Most Reputable Winery Brand of the Year” as well as   ” 2023 The Most Outstanding Winery Enterprise Award” presented by the Hong Kong Commercial  Times.

 

The awards ceremony brought together celebrities from Hong Kong’s political and business circles, and Ms. Cheung, the owner of Mystic Island Winery, attended, not only contributing to the creation of positive corporate culture but also enhancing the brand awareness of Mystic Island Winery among various sectors of society and consumers.FINAL
